Description
The monarch butterfly — with its easily-recognizable orange-and-black pattern — will only lay its eggs on milkweed plants, the primary food source for monarch caterpillars. The disappearance of milkweed from the monarch’s habitat has dramatically impacted its population. Individuals can help by planting native milkweed in their gardens.
